It was a normal start of the week in front of the laptop with some "Monday morning blues".As we progress during the day a ping from your not so favorite team member says " Hi, I have resigned".Wait a minute, did I actually think about this during the early morning shower and upon hearing I felt close to a 5 year old getting the much awaited ice candy! Lesser was I aware that the candy was bound to melt in no time.
Weeks passed by and the " not so favorite" resource gets snobbish and gets on to a paid vacation mode or the honeymoon phase! I am there at the other end completely clueless on this sudden change / shift in behavior.Corporate politics is no new jargon. Lesser did I know what the person has gone and ranted to all the big wigs in the team about me and their resignation. I am assigned a new resource and is expected to let go off the "not so favorite" resource in 2 days' time. While a CM gets to resign immediately, not a corporate slave. The snobbish slave puts forward all sorts of statements such as being left out in lurch with no handholding and what not. After few days , few of us get into the call, listened to her story and laughed out our heart. When a person realises the incompetency is being surfaced, they resort to corporate politics, feeling burnt out, blame game and use terminologies such as toxic environment, sustainability and list is never ending. Where does this all start and do we see a finish line here or is this a pattern. Can we even relate to the phrase which is not new to us- " Empty vessels make most noise".We often hear junior team members being a victim of corporate politics, what when a senior person is being subjected to the same. How do you process it. Does it make you feel awful for no fault of yours or does it make you agitated with all thoughts smeared upon you and you wish you had a magic wand to cast the spell upon all your surroundings!
